Andersen & Heegaard – A Collaborative ESG Journey

Andersen & Heegaard’s history spans nearly 200 years, from its origins as an iron foundry at Blågårds Plads in Copenhagen to a nationwide technical contractor with more than 500 employees across Denmark. Today, the company delivers interdisciplinary technical solutions within all the technical disciplines: VVS, sprinkler systems, ventilation, electrical installations, ABA and CTS.

Proud of a long-standing craft tradition, Andersen & Heegaard continues to evolve with growing expectations around responsibility, transparency, and sustainability, from both customers and the industry.

In 2024, AogH began working with Klappir to structure and collect sustainability data. While we had already implemented several sustainable initiatives, they were neither measured nor documented in a consistent way. Our goal was to establish a solid foundation and ensure we were prepared for potential CSRD requirements.

From the outset, it was important for us to work strategically and do things right. That is why ESG Implementation, a Klappir consulting partner, was brought in toin to help us design and run a structured program covering Double Materiality Assessment and CSRD preparation. The combination of a robust platform and consultancy that knows the system inside out proved critical.

Klappir provided us with a user-friendly platform that made ESG work tangible and manageable. With the addition of the Strategy module, the platform became the central hub for our sustainability work, guiding the DMA, structuring policies and actions, and gathering all documentation in one place.

At the same time, ESG Implementation supported us with targeted workshops and sparring. Because they already know the Klappir platform, setup was efficient, consistent, and aligned from day one. This saved time, avoided rework, and ensured that all data and qualitative information could be used directly, not just for reporting, but for strategic decision making.

The parallel on-boarding from Klappir and consultancy support from ESG Implementation created a smooth learning curve and a shared understanding of both tools and strategy.

Through the process, we gained a clearer understanding of where our ESG efforts create the greatest impact. ESG Implementation helped translate requirements into actions that fit our specific business context, rather than applying a generic framework.

They also played a key role in anchoring ESG internally, clarifying roles, highlighting benefits for management and departments, and positioning sustainability as a competitive parameter aligned with future customer expectations.

Although Andersen & Heegaard is currently out of scope for CSRD, we have chosen to continue the work. Today, we have a well-documented DMA and a solid ESRS foundation that allows us to move forward at our own pace while staying prepared for future regulation.

Centralising ESG work in one platform has significantly reduced complexity. Collaboration is easier, documentation is always accessible, and progress is visible. Continuous development of the Klappir platform further supports efficiency and usability.

We will continue building on this foundation by working towards ISO 14001 certification and preparing our first public sustainability report. For us, the combination of Klappir as a platform and ESG Implementation as a consulting partner has transformed ESG from a compliance task into a structured, strategic discipline, enabling us to move from data to action, and from intention to long term impact.
