For M. Goldschmidt Ejendomme, sustainability is a natural extension of their long-term business goals. By centralizing their ESG work with Klappir, they successfully navigated the complex DMA internally, saving time, reducing costs, and gaining full control over their data.
At M. Goldschmidt Ejendomme, we take pride in making a positive difference in our tenants’ everyday lives. As a family-owned property company founded in 1979, we develop and invest in high-quality residential and commercial properties that create lasting value. Our approach is guided by the same principles that have shaped our business from the beginning.
In 2024 we began preparing for the upcoming CSRD requirements and completed our Double Materiality Assessment (DMA). We wanted to ensure that sustainability was not just a reporting exercise, but a structured, data-driven process that supports real progress.
We have worked with Klappir for two years, and from the start, the platform proved to be the right fit for our needs. Having used Klappir before in a previous role, I already knew its potential to simplify complex ESG work while maintaining a high level of data quality.
This year, we also implemented Klappir’s Strategy, which guided us step by step through the DMA process, from the gap analysis and policies to documentation and internal collaboration. It became our project management hub, where we could track progress, assign responsibilities, and document our sustainability journey in one place. This approach saved significant time in our dialogue with auditors and ensured a structured path toward CSRD readiness.
Alongside the strategy work, we use Klappir’s platform to measure emissions across all assets, from buildings to company cars. This has revealed several opportunities for improvement: we identified underused vehicles, transitioned others to electric models, and started tracking emissions from rented cars to avoid hidden impacts.
By combining the Strategy and the Klappir platform, we achieved full ESRS coverage by integrating both narratives and quantitative data. Although we are not yet formally under CSRD regulation, this setup ensures flexibility and scalability, allowing us to adapt as the requirements evolve. We prepared for ESRS but can easily transition that work to VSME and then back to ESRS at a later stage if relevant.
One of our key milestones has been the successful implementation of our reduction strategies, leading to a 19% reduction in Scope 1 emissions from 2023 to 2024. This shows that our ambitions on paper have translated into measurable results in practice.
We saved more than 200 hours in the DMA process and over DKK 300,000 by doing the DMA ourselves, made possible by the Strategy software.
With the KPI tool, we can track our goals and measure emissions per square meter, making it easier to internally benchmark our buildings. We had 4,2 Kg CO pr. m2, which is a good baseline for our continous work with improving our buildings. The KPI tool allows us to learn what works well in one building, before implementing it somewhere else, or to measure if the initiative (like automatic lighting) has the desired effect.
Centralizing ESG work in one platform saves considerable time and effort, especially when data needs to be shared externally. It also makes it easier to involve the right colleagues and maintain a clear overview of progress.
