From a Royal Retreat to Greener focus: Kurhotel Skodsborg ESRS journey

The hotel faced significant challenges in reducing its environmental impact due to the historical nature of the facilities which limited the integration of new technologies. The hotel's several small suppliers were not able to deliver accurate data for CO2 calculations for reporting. Furthermore, new European legislation and standards regarding sustainability made the complex sustainability situation for Kurhotel Skodsborg more pressing.

The unique setting of Kurhotel Skodsborg triggered multiple challenges:

• Difficulty in implementing modern energy-saving technologies due to the hotel's historical structure.
• Inconsistent and fragmented data from various sources and unclear reporting requirements lead to confusion.
• Ineffective stakeholder communication.

Kurhotel Skodsborg has been using Klappir’s Sustainability Platform since early 2023, for the operational part focusing on emission data gathering and reporting. From the positive experience using the Sustainability Platform, Kurhotel Skodsborg decided to implement the Impact, Risk and Opportunities solution (Klappir IRO), which would provide a comprehensive overview of the ESRS requirements with a clear description of all data-points and structured reporting for everyone involved.

The solutions have enabled setting up a centralized database for sustainability information, fast report generation for leadership and board meetings, and, of course, provide education for internal purposes.
